NBTS keeps accurate records for blood donors. Bring a picture ID or TRN card. Workplace, school or national IDs are acceptable forms of identification.

What Happens When You Donate?
The donation visit is designed to be clear, respectful and safe. NBTS staff guide you through each stage from registration to rest after donation.
Four steps
From registration to recovery.
Medical screening
Screening confirms whether you are healthy enough to donate. Staff check haemoglobin, conduct a confidential medical interview, and review weight and blood pressure before clearing or deferring a donor.
Blood donation
After successful screening, you are seated in the donor chair and a trained staff member collects one unit of blood. This stage usually takes about 4–10 minutes.
Rest and refreshment
After donation, staff remove the unit and related materials, collect sample tubes for testing, cover the donation site and ask you to rest and take liquid refreshment.
